The curriculum map linked below outlines how we have sequenced our Computer Science Curriculum to enable Maidstonians to build their knowledge and skills towards clear end points.

Computer Science Years 7-13 Curriculum Outline 2022-2023
 
Key Stage 3: Years 7-8

Over a fortnightly timetable, KS3 Computing students receive:

  • 4 hours of guided classroom learning
  • 1 hour of homework

 

Key Stage 4: Years 9-11

Qualification: GCSE Computer Science

Exam board: OCR

Over a fortnightly timetable, GCSE Computer Science students receive:

  • 4 hours of guided classroom learning.
  • 2 hours of homework.

 

Key Stage 5: Years 12-13

Qualification: A Level Computer Science

Exam board: AQA

Over a fortnightly timetable, A Level Computer Science students receive:

  • 8 hours of guided classroom learning.
  • 10 hours of homework.

 

Careers

Our Computing Departments provides excellent preparation for Maidstonians to study or work in areas that rely on IT skills. Many of our students use computing to get into fields that include computing, mathematics, engineering, financial and resource management, sciences and medicine.
