The map linked below outlines how we have sequenced our Classical Civilisation Curriculum to enable Maidstonians to build their knowledge and skills towards clear end points.

  • Classical Civilisation Years 9-13 Curriculum Outline 2022-2023

 

Key Stage 4: Years 9-11

Qualification: GCSE Classical Civilisation

Exam board: OCR

Over a fortnightly timetable, GCSE Classical Civilisation students receive:

  • 4 hours of guided classroom learning.
  • 2 hours of homework.

 

Key Stage 5: Years 12-13

Qualification: A Level Classical Civilisation

Exam board: OCR

Over a fortnightly timetable, A Level Classical Civilisation students receive:

  • 8 hours of guided classroom learning.
  • 10 hours of homework.

Enrichment

Visits to galleries, exhibitions, and museums play an important role in the Classical Civilisation curriculum and there are many opportunities for international trips.
