MGS Spelling Bee (Y10-13)

On Friday 28th February, MGS held its second ever Spelling Bee final in the Big Hall during lunchtime. The format was a knockout style with the questions becoming increasingly challenging as the competition progressed. Mr Amin was the guest host and each house was represented by students who had qualified for the final by excelling in the first round of spellings, held in tutor time, and in the semi-final spelling test featuring 72 students representatives of the four houses.

It was an impressive affair, with our students demonstrating their linguistic flair by accurately spelling words like omnisciencestichomythia, vicissitude and embouchure.

After the finalists were slowly whittled down to the last pair, a student from College emerged as the winner, with a Tonbridge student taking second place.

A huge thank you to Miss Wilson for organising the competition and Mr Amin for his oratorical skills. There will be a competition for the lower school in term 6, watch this space for more information.
