Sports Day

Dear Parents/Carers,

Maidstone Grammar School is holding its annual Sports Day on Monday 17th July. You are all very welcome to attend what should be another great day in the school calendar. Please see below the details:

Start Time- 9.00am (although students should still be registering at the usual time of 8.40am)

Where- Maidstone Grammar School sports field

Finishing Time- 3.00pm

We do ask that if you are coming along to watch, please sign in at one of the school site entrances and take a ‘Visitor’ sticker.

What students need to remember for the day:

  • Students may wear their MGS PE kit (House shirt) and trainers to school on the day, there is no need for uniform. Please remind students that the kit must be their MGS PE attire and not just any sportswear of their choice. They are representing their houses and forms.
  • Apply sun lotion before and throughout the day. Bring a hat/cap as sun protection as well, if required.
  • There will be plenty of drinking water available but we encourage the students to bring a drinks bottle with them.
  • Students check the order of events for their year group when the programme arrives in their form folders. These are also attached on this email for your information.
  • Food will be available throughout the day. There will be a barbeque over lunchtime but this will need to be cash payment only, the canteen cards will not be accepted. There will also be an Ice Cream van on site for the duration of the day.
  • If the weather is wet, then we will use Tuesday 18th July as a back-up day.
  • Year 12 only (Boys and Girls)- Your events are all open, you may enter whichever you like on the day. Check the Year 12 timetable for the order of events.

We hope to see many of you in attendance to support the students and enjoy the day.

Many thanks,

Adam Terrell

Sports Day Timetable

  • "My son was skipping and jumping through the halls, and his excitement to show off his school and his lessons was very heart warming. He comes home daily with happy stories about his day at school. He has doubled in confidence and has taken on much more responsibility for himself in such a very short time." - A New Year 7 parent
  • "I'd like to send a quick note on behalf of my son, who attended the Brazil fair (Year 6 outreach event) yesterday. He had a great time and was so excited when he came home and couldn't stop talking about the amazing things that he did whilst at the school. Thank you so much to you and all the boys from MGS who helped make the afternoon such a success. " - Parent of a year 6 student
  • "My husband and I wanted to send a message to say how very impressed we were with our guide on Thursday evening and what a wonderful ambassador he was for your school. His manners were impeccable and he conversed confidently and informatively with us both. In addition, he engaged our 9 year old without patronizing him made his visit fun and insightful. Jack greatly contributed to our first impression of Maidstone Grammar School being such an overwhelmingly positive experience." - A visiting prospective parent
  • "Students’ achievement is outstanding, both in their academic programmes and their personal development." - Ofsted (2013)
  • "My son is in year 7 and was struggling with 2 heavy musical instruments, a school bag, his diabetes bag and his lunch bag this morning and I saw 2 sixth formers rush over to help him carry his bags. I just want to register my thanks." - Parents of a new year 7 student
  • "There is not a week which goes by even now without me thinking of the school with gratitude, and of its teachers who never gave up on me and allowed me a chance in life. " - Words from an Old Maidstonian
  • "The sixth form is outstanding. Students’ above average attainment at the higher grades in AS and A level equip them exceptionally well for higher education and careers of their choice." - Ofsted (2013)
