International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an integrated sixth form course that students can opt to take instead of the conventional A-level course. The IB means taking six subjects, which includes English, a second language, a humanity, a science and Maths. In addition a core curriculum is followed which includes an Extended Essay in their preferred subject; a course in the Theory of Knowledge plus the successful completion of a programme of Creativity, Action and Service (CAS). The course is spread over over two years meaning that IB students take their only examinations in Year 13.
