Computing in the Curriculum
Among the many benefits, this subject is designed to encourage candidates to:
- develop their problem-solving ability in a computing context using an algorithmic approach
- demonstrate their knowledge of programming through a problem solving scenario
- develop an understanding of the hardware and software aspects of Computing.
Computing A-level
The Computing specification for AS and A Level:
- prepare students who wish to go on to higher education courses or employment where a knowledge of Computing would be beneficial. Students who study Computing can go on to a career in medicine, law, business, politics or any type of science.
- allow students to demonstrate their knowledge of the fundamental principles of the subject
- require no prior knowledge of Computing or ICT.

Computer Science (IB)
Computer science higher level or standard level, if chosen, must be studied in addition to a mathematics subject.
The aims of computer science are to develop an understanding of:
- the range and organization of computer systems
- the use of computers in a variety of disciplines, applications and contexts.
