Admissions 2018

Dear Stakeholder
In line with the School Admissions Code, Maidstone Grammar School is consulting on its Admissions Policy for September 2018. The proposed changes are:

Published Admissions Number (PAN)

Our PAN will increase from 175 to 205 effective 1st September 2018.

Also, Criterion 2 of our oversubscription criteria currently reads:

“Children resident in one of the parishes listed below, achieving at least a mark half way between
the pass mark and the maximum marks available in the Kent Test, in order of (a) siblings and (b)
those living the shortest distance from the school.”

This Criterion has been updated to read:

“Children resident in one of the parishes listed below, achieving at least a mark half way between
the pass mark and the maximum marks available in the Kent Test (where a half way score
produces a .5 figure the score will be rounded down), in order of (a) siblings and (b) those living the
shortest distance from the school.”

The intention of the criterion has not changed i.e. to ensure an intake from the wider geographical area that the School has historically served. However, the wording added in brackets takes account of a midway score producing a .5 figure. The full proposed Admissions Arrangements is available to view on the School’s website HERE. This would apply to children starting at Maidstone Grammar School in September 2018. If you do not have internet access and would like a copy of the proposed Admissions Arrangements, please contact the School and we will send you a copy.

The formal consultation will be open for six weeks between 9th December 2016 and 20th January 2017. Responses should be made via email to [email protected] with the subject line ‘Feedback to Maidstone Grammar School Consultation’ or in writing to Denise Friend, Clerk to the Governing Body at the School’s address above. Responses should be received by 20th January 2017.
The outcome of the consultation will be considered by the Governing Body, which is responsible for determining the Admissions Arrangements. Once agreed, the Admissions Arrangements will be published on the school website.

Yours faithfully
M Rolfe
Chair of Governing Body
